I met with Annabel & Martin back in March for their Engagement session in their home town of Richmond. They decided to have their session at Richmond Park as they love spending quality time together there. We met over coffee first to get warm before their shoot and they told us all about their wedding plans. It all sounds very exciting as Annabel’s parents are organising some surprises throughout the day for them, so I’m just as excited as they are :)

Luckily the weather stayed dry for their shoot and we had great fun strolling around Richmond Park and were able to get close to some of the deer! These two were naturals in front of the camera and I can’t wait to photograph their wedding tomorrow at The Olde Bell in Hurley :)

newborn photographer in alton hampshireI wanted to give some helpful advice on why it is so important to choose a professional newborn photographer for your newborn session. Newborn photography is becoming very popular these days and I wanted to help parents understand why it’s important to choose a professional photographer.

Over the past 5 years I have been on many photography training courses to learn and improve my photographic skills as I feel it’s important to keep updated with training as you can never stop learning about photography. I have been on a newborn photography course which has trained me on safe baby posing and how to make sure your baby is safe at all times during their session. Your newborn will be under 14 days old when they come to their session and it’s so important that your baby’s head is supported and held correctly when posing your baby as they are too young to be able to support their own head by themselves. For some of my newborn poses I ask mum or dad to help with holding your baby’s head for safety and support. I will then use a composite image (put 2 images together) for your final image so your baby will be safe at all times during their session.

newborn baby in pink blankets in hampshireI also use baskets during my newborn sessions and always make sure the basket is weighted down and is padded well before I place your baby in the basket so it’s safe and secure. Again I ask mum or dad to stand close to the basket at all times to make sure they are safe. I like to try and keep my poses very natural and simple so your baby is comfortable and safe at all times.

I’m insured and have public liability insurance. I am also a qualified member of BANPAS (Baby And Newborn Photography Association). The Association promotes safe working practices and are dedicated to ensuring your baby’s comfort and safety takes priority whilst their members create beautiful images for you to treasure. It’s very important to find out if your photographer is insured and has qualifications and training in newborn photography.

I hope this has helped in understanding why it is so important to choose a professional newborn photographer and not always about price, safety and training are very important aspects in choosing the right newborn photographer and also finding a photographer with a style that suits you.

If you are intrestead in booking in a newborn session or know of a friend who is expecting, please feel free to get in touch info@rosannahancock.com or you can contact me above. I would love to hear from you :)

This year we had some brilliant weather for our bluebell mini sessions and the carpet of bluebells looked really beautiful this year. I met some wonderful families and it’s lovely to see the children having so much fun in the bluebells. Here is a selection of some of my favourites and some lovely emails I had from my clients. I’m delighted everyone enjoyed their mini sessions and I look forward to doing the bluebell mini sessions all over again next year!

“These are lovely, thank you very much Rosanna!!!!! We are really happy with the photographs and looking forward to sharing them with the family worlwide! ;-)  ~ Carolina and family xxx”

May has been a busy month with Bluebell sessions as they are only out for a few weeks and this year they looked stunning! Helen and Chris are getting married next year and decided to do their engagement session early and loved the idea of the bluebells and this will tie in well with their country barn wedding next July.

It was a real pleasure to photograph this couple, as I have worked with Helen on photoshoots over the past 7 years I have been running my business. She is such a talented hair and makeup artist and for anyone who has done a makeover session with me will know Helen :)

Helen and Chris brought along some great props which made their engagement session more personal to them. Chris plays an acoustic guitar which looked great sitting amongst the bluebells, it made the images look so dreamy and gave a relaxed festival vibe! Helen brought some fun umbrellas along to keep the rain away and it worked :) I’m really looking forward to photographing their wedding next year and funnily enough after my own wedding when Andy and I will be getting married next year, a year today, eek!!

I love receiving lovely messages like this, this is one of the things I love about my job.

“Eeeeekkkkkk!! Just flicked through, they look amazing!! Will have a better look later this evening when Chris is home, thank you so much I love them and I’m sure Chris will too!
Can’t wait to have you photograph our wedding day! :-)”

I think Helen and Chris make a lovely couple and here are some of my favourites from their session.

I’m so excited to announce for our third year now I will be offering our popular Bluebell Sessions in my local woods in Wokingham, Berkshire! My favourite time of the year is the Bluebell season. They are my favourite flowers and I love their sweet smell and the carpet of blue beneath the fresh greenery of the trees. They are so calming to look at and they look so magical in the enchanted woods.

Bluebells can be unpredictable each year with flowering, due to the weather. If we have a cold spring they may come out later in May. They flowered early last year due to a warm spring and this year is the same and now they are starting to  come through. Bluebells are only out for a few weeks from the end of April to the first few weeks of May.

My family portrait sessions in the bluebell woods are one of my most inquired about sessions. I have limited session availability on a first come first served basis. These sessions will be held in my local Bluebell Woods in Wokingham, Berkshire. This beautiful area of woodland is a blaze of blue and green in the springtime and is a magical place to photograph children. Bring along fairy wings and floaty skirts for that extra bit of woodland magic!

I am now taking bookings for Bluebell Sessions and these will be taking place from:

25th April ~ 9th May 2015*

~ Bluebell session are £99, this will be around 45 minutes in the woods

~ On-line password protected gallery of your edited images (10-15 images) which includes an online shop for you to purchase prints and digital files. Your gallery will be live for 3 days to view and purchase products.

~ 2 Gift Prints

~ Facebook Timeline Cover

~ Family up to 4 (2 adult + 2 children) or 2 children

I will be holding these sessions in Wokingham, Berkshire and will confirm the location upon confirmation of your booking.

These sessions always prove popular, and the magic of the bluebell woods is very short lived so please get in touch to book your session as soon as possible to avoid disappointment!
