Happy New Year! Well the end of 2015 was a very busy time for me, I also moved house at the end of the year to Four Marks, near Alton in Hampshire but don’t worry as I travel all over the country for weddings and portraits! 2016 is also going to be another big year for me as I’m also getting married in May, so I understand the amount of time and planning that goes into planning your dream wedding! So for any of my brides-to-be who would like any advice on their wedding I would be delighted to help :)

On this cold day I thought I would share some family photos that I took back in the summer at The Vyne which is a beautiful National Trust property near Basingstoke in Hampshire. If you are planning on having a family portrait session this year I always recommend exploring some National Trust properties in your local area as there are so many beautiful places for photo opportunities with beautiful gardens. It’s also a lovely way to spend a day out with your family and make it and special experience that you will remember for many years.

Back in April I met up with Sarah & Alex at Virginia Water for their engagement session. It was a beautiful spring day and all of the colours of the flowers and trees looked so fresh. We spoke about their wedding plans and their wedding reception is taking place at The Mill House Hotel in Swallowfield, Berkshire tomorrow! We are really looking forward to photographing their big day it’s going to be amazing!

I met with Annabel & Martin back in March for their Engagement session in their home town of Richmond. They decided to have their session at Richmond Park as they love spending quality time together there. We met over coffee first to get warm before their shoot and they told us all about their wedding plans. It all sounds very exciting as Annabel’s parents are organising some surprises throughout the day for them, so I’m just as excited as they are :)

Luckily the weather stayed dry for their shoot and we had great fun strolling around Richmond Park and were able to get close to some of the deer! These two were naturals in front of the camera and I can’t wait to photograph their wedding tomorrow at The Olde Bell in Hurley :)

newborn photographer in alton hampshireI wanted to give some helpful advice on why it is so important to choose a professional newborn photographer for your newborn session. Newborn photography is becoming very popular these days and I wanted to help parents understand why it’s important to choose a professional photographer.

Over the past 5 years I have been on many photography training courses to learn and improve my photographic skills as I feel it’s important to keep updated with training as you can never stop learning about photography. I have been on a newborn photography course which has trained me on safe baby posing and how to make sure your baby is safe at all times during their session. Your newborn will be under 14 days old when they come to their session and it’s so important that your baby’s head is supported and held correctly when posing your baby as they are too young to be able to support their own head by themselves. For some of my newborn poses I ask mum or dad to help with holding your baby’s head for safety and support. I will then use a composite image (put 2 images together) for your final image so your baby will be safe at all times during their session.

Again I ask mum or dad to stand close to the basket at all times to make sure they are safe. I like to try and keep my poses very natural and simple so your baby is comfortable and safe at all times.

I’m insured and have public liability insurance. I am also a qualified member of BANPAS (Baby And Newborn Photography Association). The Association promotes safe working practices and are dedicated to ensuring your baby’s comfort and safety takes priority whilst their members create beautiful images for you to treasure. It’s very important to find out if your photographer is insured and has qualifications and training in newborn photography.

I hope this has helped in understanding why it is so important to choose a professional newborn photographer and not always about price, safety and training are very important aspects in choosing the right newborn photographer and also finding a photographer with a style that suits you.

If you are intrestead in booking in a newborn session or know of a friend who is expecting, please feel free to get in touch info@rosannahancock.com or you can contact me above. I would love to hear from you :)
